Who are we?

Evelyne Gélinas and Marie-Claude Trempe met in a 4th grade classroom in 1991. At that precise moment of the story, they could not have known that 12 years later, in 2003, at the age of 21, they would learn to weave on a traditional loom purchased for $150 as part of a Young Volunteers project and would subsequently launch their business: Rien ne se perd, tout se crée… (Nothing gets lost, everything gets created). From the beginning, they settled in the old convent of a charming village of 307 inhabitants: Saint-Sévère, in the Mauricie region.

Since 2003, they have been working in the fields of fashion design and handmade products. They got their start in crafting on an old loom with which they created handwoven dishcloths, scarves, headbands, shopping bags and a multitude of small accessories. Recovering and making sustainable products has always been part of their concerns. In the early years of Rien ne se perd, tout se crée…, they focused solely on making fashion and kitchen accessories.

Dreaming of something bigger, they started designing women’s clothing. In 2010, Nicole Beauchemin, an experienced designer, crossed their path, brought - and still brings - her experience and creativity to designing two women’s ready-to-wear collections per year. In the workshop boutique, barely larger than a 4½-room apartment, the small experienced team of seven employees felt on top of each other.

This is why, in 2017, they moved into their beautiful new 16,000-square-foot purpose-built workshop boutique just a few houses away from the building they occupied for 15 years. A major investment of $2,000,000, but how profitable! With this move, Rien ne se perd, tout se crée… has taken a whole new turn. Design, production, shipping and administration are now done in their spacious and modern facilities, providing a high quality work environment for their great team.

The company is now a point of sale for more than 7000 products made by more than 150 Quebec artisans that you can find right here online as well as in their splendid boutique open all year long. As for their comfortable, original and ethical clothing, it is obviously available online and at their Saint-Sévère boutique, but also in more than 80 points of sale throughout Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia.

Today, the company employs about fifteen women in the workshop boutique and about ten seamstresses who work from home in the Mauricie region, within a 30 km radius from the workshop.

The mission of Rien ne se perd, tout se crée… is to promote Quebec handmade products while demonstrating the beauty of women’s body diversity. Evelyne, Marie-Claude and their team believe that women are beautiful in all forms and at all ages and that clothing adapted to the morphology of all contributes to making everyone’s beauty shine. In order to make its wonders, Rien ne se perd, tout se crée… only sources its fabrics from Quebec suppliers and its creations are entirely made in Quebec, in the Mauricie region. Evelyne and Marie-Claude are definitely an example of entrepreneurial success. They are committed to making their region shine and have been helping people discover it since they started.

Know-how, passion, creativity, dynamism and professionalism, this is what comes to mind when we think of Rien ne se perd, tout se crée…
